The Locke Township Board met July 8, 2025, in the Locke Township Hall, 3805 Bell Oak Road.
Present: Lott, Shepler, Hull. Also present: Glenda Turner, Bruce Miller, Brad Turner, Nick Bosworth, Howard & Linda Weaver, Cheryl Schotter, John Fortin, Sheri Rambo .
Absent: Shinkle and Coe.
Call to order at 7:00 PM by Supervisor Lott followed by pledge to flag.
Action on June 10, 2025 Meeting minutes. Motion Hull, second Lott, to approve the minutes of, June 10, 2025 Board of Trustees Meeting. PASSED {3-0}.
Additions to agenda/approval of agenda: Motion Lott, second Shepler to approve the agenda as presented. PASSED {3-0}.
*Public Hearing- Ordinance 2025-01, An Ordinance Authorizing and Regulating the Operation of off-road vehicles (ORV’s) on streets in Locke Township.
Public Hearing opened at 7:02 PM.
Public Comment: Linda Weaver, 4720 Bell Oak Rd commented on ORV,s being driven in unsafe manner and at night on Bell Oak Rd. Cheryl Schotter,4075 Bell Oak Rd commented on unsafe driving of ORV’s on Bell Oak Rd. Brad Turner, 5178 Bell Oak Rd commented in favor of Ordinance to allow law abiding citizens the right to drive ORV’s on Township roads. Bruce Miller, 5160 E Allen Rd, commented in favor of the Ordinance.
Motion to adjourn Public Hearing. Motion Hull, second Shepler to adjourn Public Hearing. PASSED {3-0}.
Public Hearing adjourned at 7:16 PM.
*Action on Accounts Payable. Motion Lott, second Hull to approve accounts payable checks #6721-#6752 in the amount of $30,784.48. PASSED {3-0}.

*Locke Township ORV Ordinance 2025-01. Motion Lott, second Hull to approve the ORV Ordinance 2025-01 into the Locke Township Zoning Ordinance. Roll Call vote; Yes-Hull, Shepler, Lott. No-None. Absent-Shinkle, Coe. PASSED {3-0}.
*Planning Commission meeting for July has been changed to the 22nd of July.
*Summer Taxes: All summer taxes have been mailed out as of July 1, 2025.
New Business:
*PC and BOR Seat. Cory Jorgensen has moved and no longer lives in the Township. Cory has decided it would be best to step away from PC and BOR. The Locke Township Board thanks Cory Jorgensen for his service to Locke Township.
Motion Shepler, second Hull to accept resignation from Cory Jorgensen. PASSED {3-0}.
Supervisor Lott has appointed Duane Pinckney to the Board of Review opening. Motion Hull, second Shepler to approve Duane Pinckney to the BOR opening. Roll call vote; Yes-Lott, Hull, Shepler. No-None. Absent-Shinkle, Coe. PASSED {3-0}.
Supervisor Lott has appointed Bruce Miller to open Planning Commission seat. Motion Lott, second Shepler to approve Bruce Miller to Planning Commission seat. Roll call vote; Yes-Lott, Shepler, Hull. No-None. Absent-Shinkle, Coe. PASSED {3-0}.
*Township Web page. Board discussion of current web page and possible changes/improvements.
*Glen Dor Drain: Supervisor Lott attended Day of Review of drainage district boundaries and review of appointments at the Ingham County Drain Commission. Commission has suggested Townships to increase budgeting for drains.
