The Locke Township Board met on April 14, 2026, in the Locke Township Hall, 3805 Bell Oak Road, Williamston. Present: Lott, Shinkle, Shepler, Hull, Coe. Also present Bruce Miller, Sheri Rambo, Bob Davis
Call to Order at 7:00 PM by Supervisor Lott followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of Agenda. Motion Shepler, Second Hull to approve the April 14, 2026 meeting. PASSED {5-0}
Action on March 10, 2026 meeting minutes. Motion Shepler; Second Lott to approve the minutes of March 10, 2026 Board of Trustees Meeting. PASSED {5-0}
Action on Accts Payable Independent Bank checks #7052 – #7081 totaling $30,105.75 Motion Hull; Second Coe to approve Accts Pay Checks #7052 – #7081 totaling $30,105.75 PASSED {5-0}
Presentation / Public Comment-3 minute limitation
Bob Davis inquired about the status of store Haslett Road; Lott advised they are waiting on liquor license. Any update on 52 & Haslett traffic; Lott advised no updates.
Unfinished Business
- Ingham County Road Department: Board is waiting on ICRD to send over contracts so we can lock in the road repairs this summer.
- Locke Township held a Special Meeting on March 19, 2026 at 5:30 PM to pass Ordinance 2026-01, which was an Ordinance to establish a Moratorium on the approval of Data Centers as a land use in the Township.

New Business
- SAM [System for Award Management] Renewal: Clerk Shinkle confirmed the contract renewal was completed in March 2026.
- New Flag has been hung and looks
- Bank CD: Our Bank CD Matured on April 10, 2026. Treasurer Shepler explained our options: Huntington Bank 3% on any number of months; LTCU 3.85% 7 months, 3.90% 13 months; Flagstar 83% 6 months; 3.86% 9 months; 3.94% 12 to 17 months. Treasurer Shepler’s recommendation to the Board is to leave the CD at Flagstar and roll it over at 3.94% for 12 months. Motion Lott, Second Hull to accept Treasurer Shepler’s recommendation PASSED {5-0}
Reports:
Clerk Shinkle: March 2026 rev/exp report as submitted for the fiscal year ending 3/31/2026.
- Cemetery flags will be ordered this week; anyone who would like to volunteer to help place the flags in Rowley & Bell Oak during the 1st week of May, please let her
- Election Inspector Training is April 15 in Mason; all inspectors will be attending
Treasurer Shepler: 3/31 treasurer report presented
- Taxes were settled without issue
- One check was never She reached out to the organization and found out it was never received. The original check was voided and new check was reissued.
Trustee Coe: inquired about the Brandon Barrett salt issue from last year; no further issues were reported to the Township; issue is considered resolved.
Trustee Hull: Nothing to report
Supervisor Lott: Nate Lott submitted his letter of resignation to the Township Board as Supervisor; effective April 30, 2026.
Motion Shepler to accept Nate Lott’s resignation; Second Hull. PASSED {4-0}
- Letter of Interest for the Supervisor position will be posted on the Township website with due date of May 1, 2026.
Zoning Administrator: March report summary w/building permits update
NIESA. March Report submitted. Public Comment: none Communications, seminars, etc.
- Sgt Richard Stack, ICSD report – no report received
Additional Comments: Treasurer Shepler thanked Nate Lott for his service to the township. Adjournment. Motion Hull Second Lott to adjourn at 7:16 PM.
