The Locke Township Board met on August 11, 2026, in the Locke Township Hall, 3805 Bell Oak Road, Williamston. Present: Miller, Shinkle, Shepler, Hull, Coe.

Call to Order at 7:00 PM by Supervisor Miller followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Action on July 14, 2026 meeting minutes. Motion Shepler; Second Hull to approve the minutes of July 14, 2026 Board of Trustees Meeting. PASSED {5-0}

Action on Accts Payable Independent Bank checks #7178 – #7204 totaling $28,765.16 Motion Shepler; Second Coe to approve Accts Pay Checks #7178 – #7204 totaling $28,765.16 PASSED {5-0}

Unfinished Business

• Violent Crime Public Safety Grant Dollars
  • Waiting for the Sheriff’s office to send a final notice for payment
• Software update
  • Supervisor Miller spoke to VC3 regarding 2 new computers, software updates and firewall update. VC3 will send quotes for all items requested.
• Fire Wall for BS&A
  • Waiting for quote from VC3 on upgraded firewall
• ITC, Oneida-Sabine Lake Project
  • ITC currently surveying the area
  • Received an email from a resident requesting the Township to send letters out to effected property owners. After discussion the Township Board agreed to not move forward on this request due to the cost of the request.

New Business

• Action on Accepting Bid to remove four Trees including stumps at Rowley Cemetery from T.C. Enterprises in the amount of $1,350.00.
  • Motion Miller; Second Shepler to accept bid from C. Enterprises.

Township Board Member Reports

• Clerk Shinkle: July 2026 Revenue & Expenditure Report
  • Primary Election Results: Locke Township voters casted 595 votes total, which includes 41 Early Voting; 38% voters voted.
• Treasurer Shepler: July 2026 Treasurer’s Report
  • Tax Collection to date: 191 taxpayers paid; $243,847.90
• Trustee Coe: Attended the Fowlerville ITC informational meeting and was pleased with information received.
• Trustee Hull: nothing to report
• Supervisor Miller:
  • FOIA (2 vendors/Contractors, 1 Property owners adjacent to ITC). All requests were completed.
  • Bell Oak Cemetery Tree removal will be submitted to the Insurance company for reimbursement (Liability Insurance Claim)
  • Rowley Cemetery limb issue and clean up; C. Enterprises will handle this now that the Board has approved the expenditure.
  • Rowley Cemetery portable toilet kept blowing over, so he secured it with 2
