The Locke Township Board met on July 14, 2026, in the Locke Township Hall, 3805 Bell Oak Road, Williamston. Present: Miller, Shinkle, Shepler, Hull, Coe. Also present: Sheri Rambo
Call to Order at 7:00 PM by Supervisor Miller followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Approval of Agenda as Amended to add to New Business: Appointment of Planning Commission member; Appointment an FOIA Coordinator; Action on Compensation & Fees: Motion, Shepler; Second, Hull to approve Agenda as amended. PASSED {5-0}
Action on June 9, 2026 meeting minutes. Motion Shepler; Second Miller to approve the minutes of June 9, 2026 Board of Trustees Meeting. PASSED {5-0}
Action on Accts Payable Independent Bank checks #7147 – #7177 totaling $25,311.34

- Wood chips update: Glenda Turner and Jalene Trew have been working on spreading the wood chips in the flower bed.

- Action on Public Safety revenue sharing, ($473) Violent crime reduction dollars go to rural county Patrol.

- Supervisor Miller spoke to VC3 and requested quote regarding upgrading Microsoft because our versions are 2016 & 2019.
- Garbage Bin enclosure
- Treasurer Shepler shared an idea on how the enclosure could be designed for best wind resistant and easy access.

- Appointment of Planning Commission Member
- Supervisor Miller appointed Nate Lott to fill vacancy which expires 12/31/2026
- Motion Shinkle; Second Coe to appoint Nate Lott to PC

- Supervisor Miller advised we need to appoint someone to fill this position and he offered to serve as FOIA Coordinator.

- Action on Compensation & Fees
- Supervisor Miller reported that going forward he would like to start the review of the Budget and Employee Compensation & Fees in November each year, so we are better prepared for the next fiscal year budgeting. He will also research rate structures of other townships.
- Sexton compensation increase request has been received to raise to $25.00 hourly and $150 backhoe rental.

- Clerk Shinkle: June 2026 Revenue & Expenditure Report
- Q2 reports were completed on 7/9/2026
- Election Commission met on 7/7/2026 to appoint Election Inspectors & set date/time for the Preliminary & Public Accuracy Tests. Preliminary test was completed today and Public test is scheduled for 1 PM on July 16.
- Treasurer Shepler: June 2026 Treasurer’s Report
- As of today, we have collected 51 tax payments

- Supervisor Miller:
- He reported that he met with ITC representative regarding transmission lines project.
